Thanks for your past service; looking forward to all that lies ahead. Asbury will be blessed with you at the helm. Please say you'll keep up the substack -- at least periodically -- we need your wisdom out here in the trenches!
Neville, thank you. I do plan to continue to write here as I'm able. I may not write as regularly as in the past but we'll see. Thanks for your encouragement.
My husband and I rejoiced when we heard of your new calling to the presidency of Asbury Seminary ! I have heard you speak at at New Rooms and read all of the Substack entries. I want to share with you what came to me after I read this one today. In this era of worshipping the flashy, shiny, loud and dramatic, the body of Christ needs what you offer. SOLIDITY!!! I pray PSALM 1 over you as you step into your new role. "BE A TREE PLANTED BY THE RIVERS OF WATER..."
David, I haven't had the privilege of taking a class with you, but I've been blessed by your teachings at annual conferences and other events and may I say you will be sorely missed as a teacher. But as Asbury alum and a man interested in the spread of the gospel, I am thrilled for the future of Asbury Seminary. Thank you for your service!
The church could use a lot more conversation like this one, colloquial, earnest, and nourishing, a chat with a keen, revealing, and compassionate scholar-influencer-leader.
I'm so excited for all that lies ahead for you and Asbury Seminary. I've never had the privilege of attending ATS, but I know several who have, and I greatly admire it. A few of us were able to come for a few days during the Outpouring and oh, my! What a blessing!
The Lord will continue to bless the Seminary, and I'm glad you get to be a part of that. It will be fun to see what He has in store!
