Your concerns are reasonable (not that you need me to affirm that!) and if I were part of the GMC, I would share them. I began praying for your Conference yesterday and will continue to pray that God’s wisdom and grace prevails, that hearts and minds are healed, and that this new expression of Methodism is faithful to the best of our shared tradition.
Remember the promises made to local churches during the disaffiliation process, stop worrying about the Baptist denomination-most of them in my area are praying for the GMC to be very successful in bringing people to Jesus and put personal pride aside so God can work in you. Focus on the great commission. Many are watching and listening. He is worthy of your very best!
Good reflections and I loved the prayer. Especially the missional focus out the prayer! I am biased, but I think my bias has biblical foundations. I pray that the GMC at all levels will be missional at its heart.
Tears. Prayers. May God be with you all.
I don't think you meant to be funny, but the line "Baptists are great, but Methodists are something different." made me laugh.
I love my Baptist friends! I hope to see you at the conference.
I'll be there Sunday!
Excellent! I hope to meet you in person.
The Prayer Team of the GMC CGC is, and will be, hard at work for these very reasons.
For HIIS glory, others" gain, and our good,
Allison
PS:
Glad we met at the DFW airport on the way here!

Thank you, Serena!
Praying for you all! May you be led by the Spirit, may you be full of brotherly kindness, and may you be “methodical” as you make these decisions.
Amen and thank you!

My wife (a GMC elder) would say, "Calm down, David, get on with the work."
I’ll be praying that by God’s grace, the GMC becomes a Spirit led renewal movement.
Praying David! Grateful for you!
