Amen! All of creation is experiencing the tragic effects of the Fall, chaos, violence, and death. “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! (1 Corinthians 15:56-57)
Fantastic post. The idea that God is order and Satan/Leviathan is chaos is inspirational. I may have been gifted with time I didn't see as a gift before I read this. I might have to turn loose the creative juices and write based on this meditation. I will let the Spirit guide me there. Until then, God bless and Godspeed, sir.
It is often taught that chaos is an absolute evil. But it is useful to consider how the Father in Heaven stated that He used the chaos of war over and over again in the Old Testament. He required much war, commanded it, directed it. And it is the same as how He has been wiping out the million laws, the unholy order, of the Roman and transRoman churches over their former false "christendoms", using both the chaos of wars and the chaos of shamelessness as His tools.
And it is also God delivering a good and wonderful injection of chaos, I will suggest, by which beloved and undiscouraged children inject play and laughter and joy, into many times and places, driving us away from order of this world, towards love and great loving truths of God.
In addition, we might consider how all heat, is in fact chaos. Zero chaos is absolute zero in temperature: there is no life in this world at all, without its careful measure of chaos.
May I suggest a reading of Marvin Pope’s work on the book of Job ? It’s a good place to get a handle on the ancient, mytho- poetic ways of speaking about the world. Chaos permeates the ancient near east world. Modern chaos can be seen in the end of the universe as seen in physics. Oh, spacetime in the Newtonian world has been fine tuned in a Einstein world view , and yes we would still have time zones.

It’s a funny coincidence, because just yesterday I was reading about leviathan (the whale, not the forces of chaos) in Psalm 104, verses 25-26:
Here is the sea, great and wide,
which teems with creatures innumerable,
living things, both small and great.
There go the ships,
and Leviathan, which you formed to play in it.
My study Bible reads “or ‘you formed to play with.’”
