I was honored to speak at the John Wesley Institute’s Mere Methodism conference earlier this year. Many thanks to Ryan Danker for the invitation. The talk I gave was called “Shadowboxing with Modernity: The Bible and the Merely Methodist Mind.” I’ve been wrestling for years with the question of what it means to read the Bible as a Christian in the Methodist tradition. In this presentation, I try to articulate some of the more important ideas on which I’ve landed. I hope you’ll give it a watch and let me know what you think.

Great presentation Teacher. May God Bless you more
Dr. Watson, I really resonated with your lecture, and especially some of your responses to the questions that you were asked. The response about how churches with new Christians will require a functional deliverance ministry in today’s re-paganized culture, and the need for churches to address the needs of families with special needs kids. As a side note; I’m glad that United Theological Seminary has folks like you and Dr. Peter Bellini on staff there. His article a few years back in Firebrand, “Confessions of a Ghostbuster “ was a much needed read as well. Thank you, for your work at United and Firebrand.
